Horror Movie Remakes

Yes, it’s another “horror movie list” this time were talk’in remakes and the big post summer “horror film” is the Rob Zombie Halloween remake. Below I have uploaded a youtube.com video that features some classic horror movie quotes and a dude rapping about the new “old” Halloween.

Intersting that this guy below did not really like “devil rejects” by Zombie. While it can not be denied that Zombie has talent in front of the camera and in telling stories the “rejects” were just too much for me. Of course I am more a “classic” horror type of guy.

It will be intresting to see the new Halloween, that is for sure. Also presented are close to twenty other horror remakes.

More Horror Films That Have Been Remade
1.  The Thing (Collector’s Edition) DVD ~ Wilford Brimley
Gentleman Caller says:
“I know all of you have seen the original Thing… John Carpenter made a mark when he put his horror talent in remaking this… Kurt Russell is excellent… I’ll say it, this is the best horror remake!”

2.  The Fly (Two-Disc Collector’s Edition) DVD ~ Joy Boushel
Gentleman Caller says:
“The Fly is a remake of a classic story, and it’s improved in nearly every absolute way… its gross style and sick scenes HAVE to get you sick in some way… a powerful and crushing love story!”

3.  The Ring (Widescreen Edition) DVD ~ Jane Alexander
Gentleman Caller says:
“I’ll be honest, I never saw Ringu yet… I do HATE that new thrillers are all rated pg-13… but I love this movie, everything about is terrifying… this has to be one of the best horrors this decade”

4.  Night of the Living Dead DVD ~ Tony Todd
Gentleman Caller says:
“Tom Savini, who was in three of George Romero’s movies, decided to remake Romero’s Night of the Living Dead… it’s different, one of my favorite zombie flicks outside of George Romero’s movies!”

5.  Invasion of the Body Snatchers DVD ~ Brooke Adams
Gentleman Caller says:
“To remake any black and white horror movie takes guts, and this was remade in the 70’s… and you know what, it’s a classic in my books… Jeff Golblum and Donald Sutherland are fantastic!”

6.  Dawn of the Dead (Widescreen Unrated Director’s Cut) DVD ~ Boyd Banks
Gentleman Caller says:
“No comparison with this Dawn and the classic George Romero masterpiece… however, instead of that slow crawling zombie walk, you get fast bloody action… and it’s done in perfection!”

7.  House of Wax (Widescreen Edition) DVD ~ Elisha Cuthbert
Gentleman Caller says:
“The classic movie House of Wax, with Vincent Price is by far nothing like this… but as a remake, as nonstop action, an excellent wax house… House of Wax was a surprising, without any comparing!”

 8.  Village of the Damned DVD ~ Kirstie Alley
Gentleman Caller says:
“Village of the Damned, Children of the Damned all of it was fun with those crazy little blonde kids… Carpenter once again gives an excellent story of these alien kids, from birth to death!”

9.  The Blob DVD ~ Shawnee Smith
Gentleman Caller says:
“The original Blob was crazy in its day… to remake it, especially in the early 90’s was a tough feat… and I know it’s not a fave to everybody, but it deserves to be recognized as a horror remake!”

 10.  Thirteen Ghosts DVD ~ Tony Shalhoub
Gentleman Caller says:
“Vincent Price was a legend let me tell you… and Matthew Lillard couldn’t even compare to him… but as its own story and trapped spirits, this was A LOT of fun, scary for a few of you!”

11.  House on Haunted Hill DVD ~ Jeffrey Combs
Gentleman Caller says:
“Another remake, following the ghost stories being made by the great Dark Castle Presents… House on Haunted Hill started powerful and all in all is still good, but it ended with you saying “WHAT?”"

12.  The Texas Chainsaw Massacre DVD ~ Jessica Biel
Gentleman Caller says:
“Jessica Biel is an excellent actress, in all genres… the co-stars are great with their little roles… I just felt there was no plot here to have you believe this was a true story, it was just, fun!”

13.  The Amityville Horror (Widescreen Special Edition) DVD ~ Ryan Reynolds
Gentleman Caller says:
“Like The Texas ChainSaw Massacre, I do believe this fell a little short on the true story telling… It’s horror and special effects were terrific, actors did GREAT, but it just lacked that intensity!”

14.  Bram Stoker’s Dracula DVD ~ Gary Oldman
Gentleman Caller says:
“Every human being knows the cult classic horror character, Dracula… I think he’s already been done with… in Brian De Palma’s told version you det a very memorable movie, nothing scary!”

15.  Nosferatu: The Vampyre/Phantom Der Nacht DVD ~ Klaus Kinski
Gentleman Caller says:
“Nosferatu to me, is still a story that’s hard for me to get… I just know as a remake to the 30’s black and white version Nosferatu… this was a huge improvement, just not what you want!”

16.  The Mummy (Widescreen Collector’s Edition) DVD ~ Brendan Fraser
Gentleman Caller says:
“Cult classics should not be messed with, from this day forward… I do like The Mummy, I do like Brendan Fraser especially in this adventure tale… it’s just not what it used to be about!”

17.  Godzilla DVD ~ Matthew Broderick
Gentleman Caller says:
“I love what CGI is doing now a days, it’s only getting better, but… Godzilla did get a little too CGI there, it was nothing like the realistic shots in Jurassic Park… all in all, I liked Godzilla!”

18.  The Stepford Wives (Special Collector’s Edition) DVD ~ Nicole Kidman
Gentleman Caller says:
“First of all, this is nothing like the original… Second this is a comedy mystery compared to the original… but for those reasons and these actors, this movie succeeds on the comedy level!”
